The Instruction Modules present engaging standards-aligned content that can be used in whole class, small group, or individual instruction for research, review, or remediation. These videos help activate prior knowledge, cue thinking and use open-ended questions to encourage students to construct their own understanding for improved comprehension and retention.
Interactivities provide additional opportunities to practice and apply acquired knowledge and skills in a game-like format. Immediate specific feedback reinforces students’ newly acquired knowledge while providing remedial feedback to address misconceptions, giving students yet another opportunity to master the concepts and skills presented.
Expository Text Passages
Expository Text Passages integrate reading and Science to support and promote literacy. These booklets can be projected for whole class instruction or printed to share in small groups or by individual students. Included Teacher Notes provides several activities that help reinforce scientific concepts and reasoning through hands-on activities related to the reading passages.
Each unit contains a formative assessment or quiz with the option to print the Quiz or to assign it to students to be taken online as desired. The online version of the Quiz checks students’ responses and gives immediate feedback on questions they did or did not answer correctly.
Open-ended higher order thinking questions and prompts help students apply key vocabulary in context as they respond. These Journal Entries enhance learning as students are asked to respond to prompts and inquiry-based questions that require them to justify their reasoning.
Simulations provide virtual lab experiences where students apply process skills and concept knowledge to perform descriptive, comparative, and experimental investigations related to concepts presented in the Instruction Modules. Simulations may be used to engage, reinforce, assess, or extend learning.
