Instruction Module
Instruction Modules introduce every lesson with bite-sized videos that explain science concepts with age-appropriate real-world examples.
Student Review
Student Reviews replay the key points of the science concepts with multiple-choice checkpoints that help teachers monitor results and address misconceptions.
Simulation
Simulations provide virtual lab experiences where students apply process skills and concept knowledge to perform descriptive, comparative, and experimental investigations.
Interactivity
Interactivities provide additional active learning opportunities to practice and apply acquired knowledge and skills in a game-like format.
Activity
Activities are written exercises for students to work in groups to test hypothesis and conduct investigations.
WordExplorer
An interactive game of flashcards, multiple-choice, and drag-and-drop activities that test students’ science literacy.
Journal
At the end of each unit, a Making Sense of Phenomenon Journal allows students to revisit the phenomenon they observed and explain it in context using their newly acquired scientific knowledge.
Quiz
Each unit contains a formative assessment or quiz with the option to print the Quiz or to assign it to students to be taken online as desired. The online version of the Quiz checks students’ responses and gives immediate feedback on questions they did or did not answer correctly.
Reader
180+ books includes a short assessment of multiple choice and short answer questions that require students to use text evidence when providing answers.
Instruction Module Companions
The IM Companion utilizes student activities to scaffold the video-formatted concepts covered in the Instruction Module. These student activities include a note-taking guide, a graphic organizer, and a journal prompt.
